Are you aware of Biometric Policy for filing Indian Visa?

Biometrics a part of the new Indian VISA applications
Many nations across the world capture biometrics of the passengers travelling in and out of the country; INDIA is the recent addition to the list of such countries. Indian Government in a recent ruling has introduced the Biometric Policy for filing Indian Visa. All foreign nationals are being advised to cooperate during the process. All categories of Visa require biometric details like your facial image and fingerprint record.

The details are captured at the IPVSC centers at the time of submission of the visa application form. In case of an e-Tourist visa the applicant can submit the visa application online along with a Visa Photo as per Indian Visa Photo laws and their biometrics would be captured at the immigration counters on arrival into India.

The finger prints are collected via a 4 + 4 + 2 scanner and the photo is captured by special facial cameras. The biometric traits of all the foreign nationals wishing to visit India are required to be captured only exemptions being travelers under 12 years of age or the ones over 70 years of age.

The visa photo captured through the Biometric camera needs to comply with the VISA Photo rules. The points to be kept in mind are:

  • The clear face needs to be visible in the picture without any kind of interruptions
  • Do not wear any kind of head or neck gear

The fingerprints should be correctly captured. The points to remember are:

  • You should not have any wound on the fingers or thumb
  • The fingertips should not be covered with any kind of color or mehndi

The biometric details help the country to uniquely identify you and the officials in no way harm your dignity or modesty. The entire process is simple and hassle free. It is very important to co-operate and adhere to the rules of the country you intend to visit. The biometrics is not being captured at all the application centres currently.
